How are you supposed to read a book whose prophet keeps breaking into song? Nietzsche left instructions, and they are odd ones: read it the way you would read the Bible, dipping in and out, memorizing what you love, skipping what leaves you cold. Martin, forty years into the book, goes further; he thinks even reading it wrong is a stage of reading it right. Then the bigger claim: Nietzsche is doing therapy, and you should come to him as you would a therapist, with a real problem in hand. As for the ancient name on the cover, Nietzsche chose it for a reason only that one man could satisfy.
